Toning Exercises: Get Tight From Head To Toe With These 5 Moves

toning exercises

There are not a lot of women who will stand up and say that they want to gain muscle, but by saying you want to get toned that is exactly what you’re telling everyone. You see getting toned is just a feminine way of saying you want to add definition and definition comes from adding muscle.

With that said there are some exercises that are better suited for this goal than others. And none of the exercises you are going to see include the weight machines that cover your gym floor.

It’s All About That Feminine Muscle!

For the best toning results you want the most efficient exercises that are responsible for burning off the fat that currently covers your muscles and at the same time can help make those muscles that you do have even better.

That means we’ll be doing full body workouts that really hits all your large muscle groups. If you think that sitting on a leg curl machine doing curl after curl is going to burn calories… think again. Same goes for all other isolated exercises (which are exactly what the machines are) like bicep curls, calf raises, and leg extensions.

So then what does that leave you with… a heck of a lot to be honest. Here are a my Fab 5 that are proven to help get you tighter! But there is one more thing before I get started, it takes more than just toning exercises.

How’s your diet? If it is bad, then your body will reflect that! To get the best results incorporate not just these awesome exercises but also clean up your diet. It’s the only way.

The Fab 5 Toning Exercises

  • Walking Lunges. Walking lunges are more than just a leg exercise. In the process of doing them you’ll also hit your glutes (butt) and your core. Once you’ve mastered the move start adding weights to each hand to really feel the burn. For more of a core move use a heavier weight in one hand.
  • Push-ups. Again if you thing these are just an arm exercise you’re mistaken. First off, push-ups actually target the chest muscles more than the arms, but you’ll also get a workout in your shoulders, core, and butt. Just think of how long people have been pumping out push-ups… they have to be good for something, right?
  • Deadlifts. This is a more advanced move but if you’re been lifting weights for a while and really want to step it up a notch then this toning exercise is a must for your entire body. There are several variations however, I prefer just a traditional “picking something up” deadlift. Remember, it’s all about lifting with the legs, not your back.
  • Pull-ups. Don’t be intimidated by pull-ups! They are perhaps my favorite exercise. Not only because they work so many great muscles in your body but because it feels great to be able to do them at the gym when so few people can! Get started by using your gym’s assisted pull-up machine. If they don’t have one you can use the Smith-Machine bar to do inverted push-ups… lay under the bar, with arms holding on, and straight and pull your chest up to the bar, slowly lower down.
  • Jump Rope. I know jump rope sounds like a strange exercise on this list, however it’s one of the best forms of cardio exercise that you can do. And remember to get toned, you have to burn off the layer of fat. For 10-15 minutes, jump rope for 30-45 seconds straight rest for 20 and repeat. You’ll feel as if you ran 2 miles but it’s more tolerable and much more effective.

So there you have it, my top 5 toning exercises to get your body in peak condition. For toning I definitely recommend aiming for 10-12 reps per exercise. For the push-ups if you can do more, do more… go till failure since you are not using weight aside from your body.

Simply do the best you can and dedicate yourself to each and every workout and you will get results.
