The Best Exercises To Rid You Of Unloving Love Handles

Who was the jerk that started calling side flab “love handles”?

Let’s face it, there is nothing loving about them and I don’t know anyone who wants to keep their love handles. Let’s face it, I don’t want them and neither do you… so then let’s talk about how to drop them like a bad habit.

It’s Not About Love Handle Exercises

I don’t want to jump straight into love handle exercises because there is an extremely important detail I need to pass along… and that’s that flat stomachs and tighter waists are made in the kitchen. It might sound frustrating but how you look is a direct reflection of how you eat. No matter the workout plans you have, if you leave the gym to grab a fast food burger your love handles are going to show it.

It doesn’t meat at all that you have to starve yourself, in fact doing so will keep your love handles even longer. But changes are necessary. If you’ve been skipping meals now is the time to set a meal schedule. To keep your metabolism revved up on high it’s important to eat every 3-4 hours, but keep your meals small and clean. No processed, sugar-filled foods… keep to natural foods like fruits, veggies and lean meats.

It Means Walking Away From Fast Junk Foods

But that’s not what you really want to read about… you want to know my favorite “Anti Love Handle Exercises” and here you have them. Some might surprise you!

  • Lunge Walks With A Twist. This is a great move because you use your core to simply balance during a standard lunge then by adding the twist you add that extra “oomph” to your core. Lunges are awesome because they work several large muscle groups and that translates in to lots of calories burned.
  • Side Plank Leg Raises. Again, we’re taking one great move and making it even better. For this you start in a standard side plank (on elbow) and then keeping your top leg pointed forward lift it up about 6-12 inches and slowly lower it back down before repeating.
  • Sprints. This might not be an exercise you generally associated with burning love handles but they do. Your core gets hit hard when you sprint, and the short distance followed by a rest throws fat burning into serious overdrive. What I recommend is to sprint as hard as you can for 20 seconds. Rest for 10 and repeat 8-12 times.
  • Burpies. Again, we’re tapping into ultimate fat burning moves. The burpee is definitely good at that. Start standing up, place your hands on the ground infront of you and jump your feet back to a push-up position. Do a push-up, jump your feet back up towards your hands and return to standing. It’s a killer move but it works wonders.

These are my top four favorite love handle exercises. If you expected to see nothing but more moves there is a reason you don’t. Spot reduction is impossible to do, you can’t say you want to lose stomach fat and focus in on just that.
