Strength is one of the most empowering things you can do for your body. When you are physically stronger, you feel so much better about your self. Not to mention you have incredible amounts of energy.

There Are Different Types of Energy

The first thing you need to understand is there are different types of strength. You have power strength, max strength, and endurance strength.

Power strength – This type of strength is the amount of force you can produce in a short burst. It’s mainly used for quick pushes, jumping, sprinting, and activities like those. It’s a good things to have.

Max strength – This type of strength is the amount of weight that you can life at your maximum. So pile on the weight and lift as much as you can until you can’t lift anymore. It too is a very important and something you should work on.

Endurance strength – This type of strength is the sheer number of reps you can do of a certain exercise. It too is important and it’s tough to work because it really creates a huge burn.

What Type of Strength Should You Work On?

You should really work on all of them. But you can concentrate a little more max strength as it does help to naturally increase the others too. To increase your max strength, you typically are going to do very little reps and try to increase the weight.

Many women are scared to do this because they think that lifting heavier and heavier will cause them to get bigger. This however is not the case.

Remember that size is more a condition of calorie intake than it is of strength.

To get the most benefit out of increasing your max strength, you should do the major compound exercises like squats, split squats, deadlifts, shoulder presses, bench press, and rows. All of these will help your body become very strong.

How To Work On Power Strength

There are many ways you can work on power strength, but the best is probably plyometrics. Most of these are jumping exercises which require a blast of power for a fast move. They are great to do and the more you concentrate on really blasting your power the better results you’ll have.

How to Work on Endurance Strength

When you want to really work on endurance strength, you should increase your reps. This is very important because a lot of people are not very strong with endurance and this can help to increase joint strength.

All of these types of strength building are vital for your body to look the way you want it. They also really help your appetite and the normal activities you do everyday. Make sure that whatever program you are working on includes all of these.

And make sure that you keep switching up the programs at least once every four weeks. You do not want your body to get used to a particular workout as it will loose it’s effectiveness.
